Dan at A1 Autocare is one of those rare gems that you find very seldom - a good, honest mechanic who cares about his work. The head gasket blew on my Mk3 Golf which over-pressurised the cooling system and took out the radiator in the process! I was recovered to his garage by the recovery company and he got straight on with the job, going out of his way to help me get my car back as soon as possible. While in the throws of the job, he took the time to call me and explain the effects that over-heating the engine could have had and confirm what I wanted to do. Even though it did add to the bill, I chose to replace the temperature sensors due to the extreme heat and have the valve stem oil seals replaced while the head was off the car. Better safe than sorry I say. My car is now running better than ever and should last another 130,000 miles. I would recommend Dan to all my friends and family in a heart beat for anything from a simple MOT and service to major engine re-builds.
