We used the company for our company van and were quoted over £500 for the work that was required and an MOT failure. We took this elsewhere for a second opinion as we had only recently spent nearly £700 on a service for the vehicle. Were told and shown to two separate members of staff that the tyres were illegal and yet this had not been put anywhere on the MOT failure. We also had the work done for £300 and it was commented that the previous £600 we had paid for work to the links for the gearbox had not made any difference of which our staff driving the vehicle had commented on to me also. One of my colleagues has had a similar issue with his car which went in with a minor issue and requiring also an MOT which it passed. He then today took back the car to be repaired and is now being quoted over £500 for a faulty handbrake cable which has come in for the same issue as reported at the time of MOT and would seem again that this wasn't checked. When raised with Lawrence at reception he became aggressive on the phone and antagonistic. My colleague collected his car and again Lawrence at discussion became totally unreasonable for a person in customer service saying to him "I'll give as good as I get". This is not about winning an argument but surely understanding your customers point of view and trying to put right or come to some middle road agreement. He also said that "you started it making accusations of an illegal MOT" - this is about listening to a customer who has had an issue and not caused a fuss and even given them another chance and then been abused for the privilege. Bottom line if the tyres were not checked (of which we have three witnesses) it IS an illegal MOT and so take responsibility, apologise, recover the customer and move on with the relationship.. We will NEVER use this company again and will be following up with the owner regarding the three costs we believe should not of been charged due to full work not being investigated and we would welcome anyone who cares about service from this garage to contact us.
