I had been making a meal of the same hill for months, dropping a gear and hoping the queue behind was patient. Volkswagen tuning has taken that drama out of it. The Golf GTI holds the taller gear, the pull arrives earlier, and I am not managing the box the way I used to. Around town the throttle is cleaner rather than sharp, so it does not lunge at the lights, and on a steady run the fuel figure has crept the right way. I did the Friday road to be sure the first day was not a mood. It was not. Well chuffed, and I would book it again without a debate.
