Really interesting fish in reception. I could not name a single one and I still watched the whole tank. The Mercedes I collected afterwards had the same life in it. Grinning.

A DPF that would not regenerate had filled the commute with smoke and warnings. They saw a cycle through properly. Smoke gone, light gone, and the hill out of town is just a hill. Smashing.
The old hesitation has gone, and I noticed it at the first junction, not on a poster. Ask, and the pull is there, including on the hill I used as the test with the boot full. The box stays in a taller gear. Around town it does not lunge, so the gain has not made it tiring. A month on, the steady miles look slightly kinder. Made up. I did the Friday road to be sure the first day was not a mood. It was not. The car is easier, and easier is the whole point.
I did not want it louder. I wanted the hill near home to stop being an event. That is exactly what happened, and the throttle is sweeter too. Well pleased.
What an amazing job. The Ford feels sorted rather than souped up: hill sorted, throttle sorted, cruise sorted. Bang on.
The gearbox used to panic on every rise. It stays in the taller gear now, and overtakes from fifty are a flex rather than a plan. Chuffed to bits.
He did an amazing job on the Mercedes. I have towed up that lane for a decade and it has never felt this willing, nor this unfussed on the way back to being a daily. The cruise sits, the hill is a pull, and town is civil. Fuel on the light days has moved the right way. Bowled over. He would not release it until the run was honest, and the road matched it the same afternoon. I am not shopping. There is nothing I would ask them to change.
A sticking EGR had it coughing in traffic and giving up on the hill. That issue is gone. The pull is even and it starts clean. Tidy.
Third car through the same garage. The 118d pulls up hills more willingly and the fuel economy has improved on the commute. They followed up without me having to ask.
Short trips had left a DPF light one week and an AdBlue countdown the next. Both have stopped. There is proper pull on the hill out of the estate. Buzzing with how ordinary it feels.
The DPF light used to arrive just as the Volkswagen hit the climb, then limp mode did the rest. They stayed until a regeneration completed. It holds its speed now. Wrapped.
Really interesting fish in reception, a proper shoal rather than a single sad occupant, and I watched them longer than I watched the clock. Something always moving. I am quite happy to say so. The Volkswagen afterwards was just as lively. The hill out of the estate is a pull, the mid-range makes joining the bypass less of a hope, and it still trickles in town. Class. I came home and told someone about the tank before I told them about the car, then corrected myself because the car was the better news.
I took an Insignia there in 2020 and a Zafira the year after, and this Grandland went in for the same reason. The hill up to the ring road is where I feel a remap, or the lack of one. It pulls, it stays in gear, and it does not make a fuss with the boot full. Fuel economy over a tank of mixed driving is a little better than the car managed standard, and clearly better than the old Insignia was before they mapped that one. A service light worried me the month after and I rang them first. They knew it was not the file, talked me through the reset, and still said to bring it in if I would rather they did it. Aftersale support on a car they already understand is worth as much as the power.
EGR faults had it flat in exactly the rev range I use. With those issues gone, the Audi pulls the hill and stops hesitating off a roundabout. Dead chuffed.
Well happy. Easy up the hill.
Free coffee in a proper cup, and a biscuit I had not asked for. Then the BMW on the road, which is why I grinned all the way to the ring road. Buzzing.
A sticking EGR had the BMW stumbling away from lights and then giving up on the hill, warm idle like a bag of bolts. Both habits are gone. It pulls cleanly, the rise is one gear, and a pass from fifty is a shorter piece of road. I am placing it in traffic without the pause. Spot on. Three weeks of the loop and the fuel is no worse, a touch better on the bypass. I had called the stumble character. It was a fault. The car is nicer without it.
DPF and AdBlue were arguing on the same journeys, especially once the Ford was loaded. Quiet now. It pulls the hill, the countdown has gone, and I am chuffed to bits.
Back with another car. The CR-V pulls up the hill outside town and the fuel economy on a run is better. They checked in and said the door was open if I wanted a tweak.
The school-run hill used to need a plan. It does not. Cleaner off the mark as well, without being snatchy. Delighted.
