He did an amazing job. I have hauled with this Audi for years, and the lane that used to finish it is a pull now. Empty, it cruises instead of striving. Bowled over.

Nikhil C

The pause before it pulled has gone. Ask, and it goes, including on the long drag I used as my test. The cruise is calmer too. I am made up with how ordinary and easy it feels.

Not the first visit. The Astra pulls up hills cleanly and the fuel economy on my commute has risen a touch. They rang to ask if I wanted anything changed.

Free coffee, and not a paper cup waved at me from a distance. A proper mug, topped up once, while the Ford was finished. I drove home grinning like a fool at how cleanly it now takes the hill by the estate.

Every Monday the DPF light and an AdBlue countdown seemed to toss a coin, and the hill with a load on called the result. Both have gone. The Mercedes keeps its speed, a bottle lasts, and I have taken the spare out of the step. The cruise is calmer. Well happy. I did a full week of the heavy drops and did not see a lamp, which is a new kind of week. The van is less tiring. I notice that when I get home, not when I am staring at a gauge.

A DPF warning had been cutting in on the one hill I cannot avoid, usually with the boot full. They stayed with it until a regeneration actually finished, rather than aborting halfway. The light has stayed out, that climb is a steady pull, and the Ford no longer smells of a failed attempt. Dead chuffed.

Getting from forty to seventy takes less road than it used to, and the Audi holds a taller gear when the bypass lifts. Well pleased with that, day in day out.

The old Discovery went to this garage and so did this one, the week I collected it. Pulling up the hill with the horsebox is the only test that matters, and it does it in a gear higher than before. On the days I am not towing, the fuel economy has improved rather than gone the other way, which was the worry. After a long weekend I thought it was idling a bit low. I rang, they remembered the truck, and they fitted me in the next morning. A small change and it was right. No invoice for the return visit. That is the aftersale support you hope for when you take more than one vehicle to the same place, and they have it.

The pause before it went has disappeared, which I noticed at the first roundabout and then on every one after. Hills are a pull and traffic is less of a negotiation. I am using less foot to hold a cruise, and a month of the same road shows a slightly kinder figure. Fair made up. It has not become a noisy thing. I can still trickle through town, and the hill at the end is no longer the moment everyone in the car goes quiet. That used to be a family joke. It is retired.

The DPF would not finish a cycle, so the Volkswagen smoked on pull-away and limped if I asked for the hill. Short hops were the cause and the motorway cure had already failed me. They stayed until a regeneration completed. Smoke gone, light gone, and that climb is just a hill. Couldn't be happier. I have done the school-run weeks since, all short, and the warning has not returned. The car smells right. I am not apologising for it at the lights anymore.

The Hilux before this one was done at the same garage, and I booked the new one in before the plates were even on. Towing up the hill to the yard is the test. It used to fall away near the top and now it pulls all the way. Empty, on a motorway run, the fuel economy is better than the last truck managed after its remap, which I did not think they would beat. A month in I asked them about a slight drone in one gear. They had it in, went through it, and showed me it was a worn mount rather than the file. No bill for the diagnosis. I will keep taking work there for as long as they are doing it like that.

EGR trouble had the van hunting like it could not decide, then giving up on the hill with a cage full of parcels. Issue cleared, it pulls the rise, idles evenly, and moves off without the lurch. I am not jerking away from lights on the round. Tidy result. Fuel on the lighter return runs has improved a little, and the heavy days are no worse. Dead chuffed. It is a more driveable day, which on this job is worth more than a number on a printout. The customers get a calmer stop as well.

Not the first car, and I would not start looking elsewhere. The CX-5 pulls up the hill and the fuel economy has held. They checked in by email the week after.

Free coffee in reception, freshly made, and they offered the jug again before I had finished the first. It turned the wait into a sit-down rather than a hover. Then the BMW, which was the point. It holds the gear on the rise that always kicked it down, forty to seventy takes less road, and it is still calm in traffic. I grinned all the way to the ring road. Buzzing. A week later the same hill is boring, and boring is exactly what I paid for. The coffee was a good start to a better car.

DPF and AdBlue were arguing on the same journeys in the Ford, one warning then the other, especially once it was loaded. I was buying bottles weekly. Quiet now. It pulls the hill with the tools in, does not hunt, and a top-up is a normal interval. The empty leg is a bit thriftier. Chuffed to bits. The Monday limp-mode habit has stopped, which is the result I can feel in the diary as much as in the seat. I start the round without a discussion with the dash.

I have been using this garage since they did the old Mondeo, and the S-Max went to the same place as a matter of course. With the family and the dog in, the hill up to the main road used to have it changing down and making a meal of it. It pulls cleanly now. I watch the fuel economy because of the school runs and the weekend miles, and it is a bit better than it was, not worse. Something felt flat after a fill-up of poor fuel and I mentioned it when they rang the following week. They said to run that tank through, then come in if it was still there. It cleared, and they still offered to look at it. That is the aftersale support I came back for.

I came back the long way on purpose, the road with three climbs and a dual carriageway in the middle. Every rise that used to drop a gear did not. The cruise barely needed a toe, and the throttle in the town at the far end stayed civil. I got home less tired and with more in the tank than the same trip last summer. Lush. I had asked them not to make it sharp, and they had not. The car is easier. I keep waiting for the old downchange and then remembering.

Maureen T

I took the last car there and this one followed. It pulls up hill more strongly and the fuel economy on a cruise is better. They rang to make sure nothing needed another look.

A DPF that would not regenerate had filled the commute with smoke and warnings, and a hill turned it into limp mode. They saw a cycle through properly and did not wave me off early. Smoke gone, light gone, and the Audi takes that climb in a higher gear. I have stopped opening the window to check. Smashing. Town is cleaner too, and a month of short trips has not brought the lamp back. The car smells normal. I had forgotten what that was like until it returned.

An amazing job on the Ford. Trailer on, the lane that used to finish it is a pull with something left at the top. Trailer off, it cruises and the gearbox has calmed down. I was worried the tow map would make it harsh on the way to work. It has not. Fuel on the unladen days is a touch better. Bowled over, genuinely. He showed me the before and after without the hard sell, and the hill agreed. I would book the next one the same week I collected it.
